Named for a prize taken against the odds
SerapisERP is built in Hollywood, Florida — by operators who needed one system for real service businesses. The name comes from a moonlit fight off Yorkshire in 1779, when Captain John Paul Jones took his worn-out converted merchantman, the Bonhomme Richard, alongside HMS Serapis — a brand-new Royal Navy 44-gun frigate, faster and better armed in every respect.
The battle behind the name
Outgunned, ablaze, and taking on water, Jones was asked if he was ready to surrender. His answer became the U.S. Navy's founding legend: “I have not yet begun to fight.” He lashed his sinking ship to the enemy's rail and fought for three more hours — until it was Serapis that struck her colors.
The Bonhomme Richard went down two days later. Jones sailed home in the ship he had captured.
That's the story we named the company for: a smaller, scrappier operation — outspent and outfitted with less — that closes the distance, refuses to quit, and ends up owning the stronger ship. If you run a business like that, this software was built for you.
